When I was making the color swirl (prior post) cupcakes I had a little cake batter left over. I dug through my cabinets hunting inspiration for what to do with it. Finally I gave up on being really crative and borrowed my daughter's easy bake over cake pan.
Spray pan with cooking spray for easy removal. Fill with cake batter. As you can see I added the chips before baking...it doesn't work.
The chips I added before baking simple melted into the cake and became lost. Nice flavor to the cake but not what I wanted.
Soooooo... after it came out of oven I simply reapplied the chips. Wait a few minutes for the heat from the cake to melt them then press gently on them to make design. I used a toothpick on the "smile" to make it look that way.
Let it cool, remove from pan, and give a bright smile to someone. Chips will reharden when cool.
